Specific application courses on sequential WDXRF spectrometers give advanced training for special software options of SuperQ: Omnian, Pro-Trace, Oil-Trace and Stratos. Particular emphasis is placed on the advanced use of these packages in combination with SuperQ. The specific application courses include theoretical background and hands-on software sessions. Hands-on sessions are carried out offline using computers with simulated spectrometers or online in the application laboratory where appropriate.

Omnian
This 2 days course consists of both theoretical lectures and practical sessions, with exercises and hands-on training using SuperQ in combination with the Omnian software option. The course will focus on the following key areas:
• Theoretical explanation of the Omnian software module
• Calibrating Omnian
• Influence and implication of several sample preparation methods in Omnian
• Composition and usage of compounds and sample recipes
• Adding standards for optimizing accuracy
• Results interpretation

Pro-Trace
This 2 days course consists of both theoretical lectures and practical sessions, with exercises and hands-on training using SuperQ in combination with the Pro-Trace software option. The course will focus on the following key areas:
• Theoretical explanation of the Pro-Trace approach
• Requirements for low-level trace element analysis
• Background determination
• Spectral line overlap correction
• Tube peak corrections (impurities in tube spectra)
• Matrix corrections: alphas, FP, MACs with jump-edge corrections
• LLD +amp;amp; error reporting
• Results interpretation

Stratos
This 2 days course provides the theory and practical applications of fundamental parameter X-ray analysis of coatings, thin films and multi-layers. In addition to theoretical sessions, various practical examples will be treated in detail, which can be found in industrial, material research and semiconductor applications. The course will focus on the following key areas:
• The theoretical basics of the fundamental parameter method
• Criteria used for designing a fundamental parameter analysis
• Simulate X-ray absorption and enhancement in thin films and stacks
• Set up a fundamental parameter calibration and analytical recipe for the most common
thin film applications
• Use of the interface with SuperQ to perform an on-line Stratos analysis
• Apply the theory to judge the analysis results
• Results interpretation

Oil-Trace
This 1-day course consists of both theoretical lectures and practical sessions, with exercises and hands-on training using SuperQ in combination with the Oil-Trace software option. The course will focus on the following key areas:
• Theoretical explanation of the matrix influences in oils
• Starting the Oil-Trace application
• Background determination
• Spectral line overlap correction
• Matrix corrections: Fundamental Parameters
• LLD +amp;amp; error reporting
• Results interpretation
