AXAA 2020 (Australian X-ray Analytical Association)

Malvern Panalytical is the proud platinum sponsor at AXAA 2020. Malvern Panalytical unveils intelligent solutions for research at AXAA. This spans from sharing new application methods to achieving better research analysis and data interpretation; to new intelligent technology with improved user interface that still delivers uncompromised data quality. Look out for our array of analytical techniques including elemental analysis, fusion bead sample preparation, particle size and shape monitoring and near infra-red to help your laboratory achieve the highest level of data quality assurance.

Dr Thomas Degen, Senior Scientist at Malvern Panalytical’s supply center in the Netherlands

Dr Thomas Degen is part of the development team for Malvern Panalytical’s X-ray diffraction software – HighScore and HighScore Plus. These softwares are used in various industrial and academia research for the purpose of phase identification, quantification, refinement and much more. Dr Degen has a Ph.D. in the field of solid state chemistry at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry, University of Bonn, Germany. His research is mainly focused on algorithms and computing in the field of X-ray powder diffraction. He has more than 20 years of experience in analyzing XRPD data. As part of his work, Dr Degen often travels to conduct XRD data analysis workshops and training. He is the lead chairperson conducting Australia’s advanced HighScore XRD analysis workshops. Dr. Detlef Beckers, Group Leader and Lead Scientist XRD at Malvern Panalytical’s supply center in the Netherlands

Dr. Detlef Beckers made his Ph.D. in Physics at the Research Center Jülich, Solid State Physics Institute, Germany in 1996. He joined Malvern Panalytical B.V. in 1996 (Philips Analytical B.V. at that time) in the position of Project Manager X-ray diffraction. He was responsible for the management of hardware development projects and (pre-) development of new optical XRD modules. He then moved into the position of Market Segment Manager Pharmaceuticals, Food and Life Science where he was responsible for applications and business development, and the co-ordination of the pharmaceutical, food and life science market activities within the company. Afterwards he was assigned as Product Manager Scientific XRD and today serves as Lead Scientist for Malvern Panalytical. His group is responsible for the development of new technologies, algorithms and analytical methods for X-ray diffraction, X-ray scattering and combined techniques.
