How to increase the lifetime of your fusion instrument?
It’s not a surprise: No matter which high-quality product you buy, you always need to take good care of it so it entirely fulfills your expectations.
Think about the following points when unpacking your brand-new Claisse® instrument (or apply them to your current instrument, since it’s never too late to change). They might save you considerable time and money!
The environment
Did you know that many problems can be avoided by only placing your fluxer in a well-ventilated and dust-free environment?
The accumulation of dust can in fact lead to dysfunction of critical mechanisms, electronic boards, sensors or communication ports. We also suggest using your fusion instrument in a dry and cool area of your laboratory.
Here’s the golden rule: The environment in which you place your fusion instrument needs to be as clean as where you place your other analytical instruments (X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), particle size analyzers, etc.). You then avoid risks of contamination, unsuccessful fusion cycles, and crystallization.

Cleaning the instrument
Always clean your Claisse product with a vacuum instead of compressed air. This way, you really remove dirt instead of pushing it further in the mechanism.
Electricity
Make sure that your power supply is stable since any variations can cause malfunctions, breakdowns and inadequate sample preparation.
Platinumware
As mentioned in a previous blog post, it’s important to use platinum molds and crucibles in sample preparation. Keep in mind that Claisse products were designed to be used with Claisse platinumware. Other forms of molds or crucibles might unfortunately cause damage to your instrument.
Communication
This is the most important point! Always contact us if you notice anything unusual on your instrument. Our experts will support you shortly to reduce downtime in your lab and avoid the deterioration of the situation.
