Have you missed seeing your friends, peers and colleagues at in-person conferences?
In “normal” times, before COVID, I enjoyed traveling the world as part of my job. I regularly visited customers and attended conferences here, there, and everywhere. Spending time with other scientists, sharing stories, hearing about new research and breakthroughs is part of learning – which is a lifelong endeavor in this field. There’s nothing like hearing about someone’s success or challenges directly from them in person.
The shift to online events in 2020/2021 was great in lots of ways. We got to carry on learning, sharing our ideas and networking. But there were drawbacks. There’s just… something about in-person events that the virtual world just cannot match. Seeing the reactions of the audience as you present your research. Accidentally bumping into someone you haven’t seen for years. Making a new connection with someone new in the queue for coffee. None of that happens at virtual conferences.
The FORGE 2022 is going hybrid
If, like me, you really want to get back into the world and attend a real, live, in-person conference, you’ll be excited to hear that the FORGE conference, where we’ll be considering particle characterization for formulation, is going hybrid. This means you’ll be able to join us live in The MAC Theatre, Belfast, for the full in-person experience on 23-24 March.
The theme of FORGE 2022 is making the right measurement at the right time. We have a great line-up of plenary speakers, and the bulk of the program will be delivered by students and early-career scientists. We hope you can join us to learn, network, and support the next generation of leaders in the field. As with last year’s FORGE, the difference is that we want people to explain why they love what they do and share their passion with others.
Confirmed plenary speakers include:
- Richard Tweedie, Chair, PCIG – United Kingdom
- Jonathan Seville, University of Birmingham – United Kingdom
- Kathy v.d. Woude-Sanders, Organon – Netherlands
- Anita Schjøll Brede, Iris.ai – Denmark
- Brian Glennan, APC – Ireland
- Chandresh Malde, Johnson Matthey – United Kingdom
- Professor Mingzhong Li, De Montford University – United Kingdom
- Dimitrios Lamprou, Queens University, Belfast – United Kingdom
Why attend in-person
The FORGE will be attended by like-minded scientists and researchers with similar interests, you’ll have the opportunity to network with them, discuss your particle characterization research and learn from others, and maybe form collaborations. The network you build could result in long-lasting friendships or even future employment.
Virtual attendance
Of course, we understand that travel policies are ever-changing and that personal circumstances may also limit your ability to travel. That’s why you can opt to join as an online attendee. You’ll have access to all the live sessions and lots of opportunities to interact and network with other virtual attendees. Our online platform, Whova, has lots of great tools to make it easier to interact and network online. So, rest assured we will try our best to make The FORGE online experience different to some of the other events you may have been to in the last 2 years.
