How Malvern Panalytical’s Scientific Award 2022 is helping young scientists kickstart their careers
If you’re a young scientist, you’ll know that it can be tricky to get your research career off the ground. With limited opportunities for funding, research positions, and networking opportunities, scientists often report difficulties and frustrations. But it doesn’t have to be this way…
Introducing the Malvern Panalytical Scientific Award!
At Malvern Panalytical, we believe that our young scientists are the future – and it’s more important than ever to encourage their work in materials analysis. So, as well as our offering of high-performance instruments, we also aim to support these scientists with professional resources and opportunities. Plus, of course, we also love staying up to date with what researchers across the scientific community are working on!
For all these reasons, our predecessor organization PANalytical set up a scientific award in 2012. Running since then, and now known as the Malvern Panalytical Scientific Award, the program aims to recognize outstanding research talent, support scientific careers, help researchers share their work with a wider audience, and promote excellence in applying analytical solutions.
Sharing research, winning prizes
Every year, we invite scientists at the early stages of their careers to share their examples of research performed using Malvern Panalytical instruments. Topics can include anything from geosciences and mining to biologics and additive manufacturing – in previous years, we’ve seen papers on lithium-ion conduction in electrolytes, dynamic behavior in metal-organic frameworks, and more.
After having fun reading through all these papers, our scientists select the top ten based on the authors’ scientific merit, innovative thinking, and active participation in the field. We then publish a list of these papers and invite the deserving authors to speak at a Malvern Panalytical webinar. Lots of opportunities for recognition, then! Even better, the author of the number-one paper gets a prize of €5,000…
Back for 2022 – we want to hear from you!
But why are we telling you this? Well, this year’s Scientific Award is now open until September 30! That means we’re once again looking for excellent research papers by scientists under 35. The research should be published in English and use one or more Malvern Panalytical solutions. If you’ve got something like this to share, we want to hear from you! Check out the dedicated webpage for the full details and entry instructions.
Best of luck – we hope the award program will give you a valuable opportunity to get your research recognized more widely, and we can’t wait to read all about your projects!
