Characterization of Rice Dwarf Virus

Two strains of Rice Dwarf Virus RDV were characterized by Dynamic Light Scattering and Static Light Scattering SLS using a Malvern Zetasizer Nano ZS to demonstrate the relationship between size polydispersity index PDI and the tendency to be able to crystallize the sample. The strain with lower PDI was successfully used to grow crystals of X-ray diffraction quality. A second strain aggregated, with larger PDI, and showed much larger average molecular weight by SLS.
