The size, molecular weight and charge of ferritin were measured by the Zetasizer Nano. The results confirm that the ferritin is not monomeric, but exists as a mixture of oligomers in the sample analysed.

Ferritin is the iron (Fe) storage protein inside cells which forms a 24-mers. Molecular weight was larger than the expected 474 kDa, and hydrodynamic size of ~18nm correlated with this finding.

The charge was found to be negative.
