British Crystallographic XRF User Meeting – Sheffield Hallam University
I had the pleasure to participate in the British Crystallographic XRF User Meeting on the 12th June 2019. The meeting was sponsored by eleven instrument manufacturers/providers associated with X-Ray Fluorescence technology.
Malvern Panalytical sponsored the coffee that was served during the registration period. The event host, Dr. Tony Bell of Sheffield Hallam University welcomed everyone and began the session chaired by Mrs. Heather Harrison of British Gypsum presenting; ‘The re-establishment of the OXI XRF standard analysis method’. Tony acknowledged the work and support of our former colleague, Steve Davies and current colleague Andy Scothern at the end of his presentation.
This presentation was followed by an Exhibitor Forum, where every vendor had three minutes to promote their products and services. Andy Scothern gave a brief presentation on the new Epsilon 1 EDXRF spectrometer.
The main session then continued with a couple of more presentations followed by a buffet lunch where delegates were invited to visit the considerable number of exhibition stands including that of Malvern Panalytical (see photo attached), where an Epsilon 1 instrument was available and for delegates to ask questions about its analytical performance and reliability.
The afternoon session saw a number of presentations given including one by our colleague Andy Scothern. Andy’s excellent presentation was on the very topical subject of air pollution and how the Epsilon 1 is used as a device to measure the elemental composition of air filters. Andy’s presentation was very well received by the audience. If you want to receive this presentation, just ask!
During the event, there was also a poster session, where Malvern Panalytical had a poster about USP 232 & ICH Q3D Elemental Impurity Standards For X-Ray Fluorescence Analysis.
A big thank you to Dr. Tony Bell and his team for organizing the event.
