Formulation scientists are using particle sizing not only as a characterization tool but also as a predictor for drug behavior and patient perception. This presentation will show several case studies where laser diffraction was used to solve specific applications in the formulation and manufacturing of drug products.

Whether the material is a powder, a dispersion or an emulsion, laser diffraction can be successfully used to gain insight into patient perception, to adjust the size distribution of a drug component in real time, to assess droplet sizes in nasal drug delivery and even to characterize minute volumes of complex formulations.
