Brazil’s Ore and Minerals Analysis Workshop
Malvern Panalytical Brasil recently held the 10th Edition of the OMA (Ores and Minerals Analysis) Workshop, which took place in the Northeast in the city of Currais Novos / RN. In partnership with the IFRN the objective was to provide the professionals involved with chemical analysis, with an overview of analytical techniques such as X-ray fluorescence spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, sample preparation by fusion, on-line analysis, Near Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and automation for the production process, from mineral exploration to quality control and environmental impact assessment.
76 Participants attended from various companies and universities. They had the opportunity to attend technical lectures, given by speakers as Dr. Uwe König (Malvern Panalytical), Diógenes Silva and Gabriela Lira (Malvern Panalytical), Dr. Maria Manuela Tassinari and Dr. Juliana Lívi Antoniassi (Laboratory of Characterization Technological – LCT of the University of São Paulo – USP), Professors Alexandre Rocha and Cleonilson Mafra (IFRN), and Profa. Simone Paz (UFPA).
Also during the event, the X-ray fluorescence benchtop system Epsilon 1 was exhibited. The Epsilon 1 was used to give a demonstration to the participants, showing how is easy and fast elemental chemical analysis of a sample can be done.
This was the 5th edition of OMA already, held in Brazil and we are looking forward to the next edition of 2019. If you are interested in attending, please contact me.
A word about the OMA
The OMA is a series of events held worldwide that aims to present Malvern Panalytical as a solution provider for mining companies. User days are great occasions to learn and build networks with other players in the mining industry. Mining companies/research facilities, universities with focus on mining, service laboratories and environmental institutions are the main target audience.
