LALS, RALS, MALS or just simply old school conventional GPC?

Greetings Malvern Blog subscribers, and welcome to May 2013. I want to start my second blog of the year off for you with a simple question.

When you look at the current array of Light Scattering based instruments for chromatographic detection of the molecular weight and structure of a protein do you cringe with fear? Is LALS better or worse than MALS? Should your system have one detection angle or 20? Do I want SLS, DLS, both, or simply neither!! Is triple detection better than just light scattering for proteins?

When it comes to characterization of the molecular weight of a protein, these are all very relevant questions. With the myriad of options it’s hard to decipher fact from fiction, and truth from old wives tales. If this sounds like a question that you have asked yourself at some point, then I would like to invite you to my upcoming seminar.

The seminar is titled “New Analytical developments in Protein Size Exclusion Chromatography” and will focus on the differences in detector design and performance, along with requirements of calibration and the limitations of each detector type in relating to the detection and elucidation of protein size, molecular weight, and structure – using chromatography. This seminar will be presented on Thursday the 16th of May 2013 through the Malvern seminar series. Simply click here to register.

See you all there… Matt
