Public Universities in São Paulo Brazil have “Uber” for renting multi-user lab equipments
Considered a great initiative, public Universities of São Paulo in Brazil rent their state-of-the-art equipment as a means of sharing infrastructure and expertise with other institutions and companies in the public and private productive sector.
This action is possible through a strong partnership with companies that supply high-tech and innovative equipments, enabling researchers from the academic community as well as private companies to develop their scientific research and development.
Malvern Panalytical in Brazil has already established this partnership with one of the most renowned multi-user laboratories, the Technological Characterization Laboratory (Laboratório de Caracterização Tecnológica – LCT) of the Department of Mining and Petroleum Engineering of the USP Polytechnic School, ensuring more efficient use of University and improving integration with the business sector. The LCT has some Malvern Panalytical equipment, such as the Zetium X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer, the X’Pert PRO MPD X-Ray Diffractometer, the Mastersizer 2000 (Powder and Liquid) and Mastersizer 2000F ( Spray) Laser Diffraction Particle Analyzers.
In November the LCT had major highlights in the national media about the new equipment sharing platform, wherein one of the news reports was shown the XRF Zetium. Also, in the same month on the 13th was held the 20th Ore and Minerals Analysis (OMA) Workshop at LCT, an event that was originated in Brazil in 2015 and has been held around the world with the aim of spreading knowledge about analytical techniques used in the mining sector. The event featured lectures, guest speakers from the mining sector and also a lab tour.
