In situ tensile testing is raising increasing interest in the world of material science. By means of such experiments one can both investigate the properties of well-known materials, and study the structure of newly created ones. Stress-strain experiments on polymer foils and fibers often provide a better understanding of the structure-property connection.
In this webinar the possibility of in situ tensile experiments on the Empyrean diffractometer is presented. We demonstrate the possibility of orientation analysis in stretched polymers by means of 2D WAXS (wide-angle X-ray scattering) measurements.

- Natalia Dadivanyan - application specialist XRD
Natalia has studied chemistry at Moscow State University (Russia). After completing her master thesis on synthesis and characterization of polymer liquid crystalline films Natalia moved to the University of Freiburg (Germany) to obtain her PhD degree working on liquid crystalline elastomers. This was followed by a post-doc position at the Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands), where Natalia focused on organic semiconductors. In 2012 Natalia joined Malvern Panalytical as an application specialist XRD.
