Dr. Sikulu-Lord has 8 years experience in the application of NIRS for the assessment of mosquito parameters that aide in the transmission of the diseases they carry. Dr Sikulu-Lord has a track record in the application of NIRS in the assessment of malaria vectors in Africa, arboviruses such as zika and dengue in Australia and Brazil and is currently extending the knowledge to insects of agricultural importance. She is is the lead investigator of a USAID funded project on combating zika and future threats and focuses on the application of NIRS for detection of zika and dengue transmission hot spots in Brazil.
