This webinar focuses on the specific application of sensor calibration.

Earth-observing sensors provide measurements for a wide range of climate and environmental studies. It is critical that these sensors and associated data products remain calibrated in order to achieve synergy among coexisting sensors as well as temporally throughout generations of sensors.

In this webinar you will learn: 

- How full-range spectroradiometers (like the FieldSpec® 4) can be used for sensor calibration

- How vicarious calibration is used to perform on-orbit validation of the absolute radiometric response of earth observing sensors 

- Radiometric uncertainty and how spectral differences between sensors are incorporated

Panelist: Michele Kuester holds a PhD in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder. Prior to earning her PhD, she completed a B.S. in Physics and an M.A. in Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona.

Michele has 15+ years of experience in the Earth remote sensing industry. She holds expertise in space-, airborne- and field-based earth remote sensing, pre- and post-flight absolute radiometric calibration, ecological remote-sensing, radiative transfer and atmospheric dynamics.

Michele’s work at DigitalGlobe (Longmont, CO) involves the calibration and validation of the radiometric response of Earth-observing sensors. She is in charge of the absolute radiometric calibration of the satellite constellation of VNIR and SWIR Multi-spectral sensors, leading a team of interns via the Colorado Space Grant Consortium.
