XRF Sample Certification Services: creating your own calibration materials

Calibrating your XRF methods using Certified Reference Materials (CRMs) can be challenging and costly. The costs of CRMs can be high, and their availability limited. Often, many CRMs are needed to cover the required range. Moreover, when pressed powder analysis is required, mineralogical differences of CRMs compared to your process materials often compromises accuracy. In that case, generating calibration standards using your own materials can be an attractive option.

Malvern Panalytical offers a materials certification service for turning your process materials into materials for suitable for calibration, using analysis accredited test results (ISO/IEC 17025:2005) for the following materials:

Particle size and rheological characterization service

Do you need to outsource particle size or rheological analysis of a selection of samples and materials? Malvern Panalytical offers this service.

We offer particle and rheological characterization service for your samples. Samples will either be analyzed at one of Malvern Panalytical's applications laboratories or through Malvern approved third party independent analysis labs.

Our material characterization service can characterize the size distribution, shape distribution and zeta potential of particles, in samples over a wide range of concentrations and particle size using the full range of instrumentation techniques available to them. In addition, we can characterize the rheological properties of a wide range of materials through a variety of test methods and instrumentation types.

Technologies available include:

  • Laser diffraction (wet, dry and aerosol dispersions).
  • Dynamic light scattering (for macromolecules and colloidal suspension).
  • Zeta potential measurement (aqueous and non-aqueous, iso-electric point determinations).

Installation and Operational qualification services

Malvern Panalytical offers various Installation Qualification (IQ) and Operational Qualification (OQ) programs for many of our instruments.

Installation Qualification

Full system setup and installation qualification for Malvern Panalytical systems, assisting instrument owners with their validation process. Includes IQ documentation. The IQ documentation proves that the system has been installed according to Malvern Panalytical specifications.

Operational Qualification

Operational Qualification, package for Particle sizing, XRD and XRF systems, for assisting instrument owners with their validation process. This package includes an OQ document, test methods and a carefully selected certified-reference-material-standard and accompanying certificate. The Operational Qualification package provides documented proof that the spectrometer performs according Malvern Panalytical specifications after installation.

  • Complete hardware and software check
  • Preventative Maintenance tests and advice regarding replacement of consumable items
  • Operational Qualification of the system using traceable standards
  • Provision of a Performance Verification Certificate together with full documentation
