ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res: High Resolution Spectroradiometer
8 nm SWIR resolution ideal for geological studies and atmospheric research
The ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res is a high resolution spectroradiometer designed for faster, more precise spectral data measurements for a wide array of remote sensing applications.
Overview
The 3 nm VNIR, 8 nm SWIR spectral resolution of the ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res spectroradiometer provides superior spectral performance across the full range solar irradiance spectrum (350 – 2500 nm). The enhanced spectral resolution in the SWIR range (1000 – 2500 nm) is particularly useful for detecting and identifying compounds with narrow spectral features in the longer wavelengths such as alteration mineralogy and gases for atmospheric analysis.
Additionally the 8 nm resolution meets or exceeds the spectral resolution of most hyperspectral sensors making the ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res spectroradiometer an excellent choice for sensor validation and calibration, as well as ground truthing and building spectral libraries.
Like all ASD FieldSpec spectroradiometers, the ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res can be used as a high resolution spectrometer for very accurate contact reflectance measurements.

Turntable
When your application requires analysis of irregularly shaped or non-homogeneous samples, the ASD Turntable is ideal for obtaining a highly accurate average. Especially useful for instrument owners in the grain, agriculture, pulp and paper, food, plastics and mining industries.
The Turntable offers:
- 53.2 mm sampling spot size
- Rotates at 22 RPM
- Fits up to a 150mm sample dish
- Compact (8"x11"x11" or 20.32 cm x 27.94 cm x 27.94 cm) footprint.
The Turntable comes standard with a 4000 hour halogen light source and one standard 150 mm x 15 mm Petri dish.
Plant Probe
The same great design and functionality as ASD's standard contact probe with a lower intensity bulb position for non-destructive data collection from live vegetation and other heat-sensitive targets.
The plant probe can be used alone or in combination with a Leaf Clip to protect sensitive plants.
Leaf Clip Version 2
ASD's Leaf Clip assembly interfaces with the ASD Plant Probe. The Clip comes with the same replaceable white and black background standards (eight of each including the pre-mounted ones) that were included with the previous version of the leaf clip.
The white backgrounds are .120mm thick x .935" OD Gore-Tex white PTFE reflector material. The black backgrounds are .004" thick x .935 OD black painted Vinyl. White Reference Cap (A122634) or 3.62” Spectralon (A128533) can be used as white background in addition to the Gortex for more accurate measurements.
The Leaf Clip 2 also uses the same mounting bracket as the FieldSpec pistol grip, enabling it to be secured to the backpack waist belt when not in use.
Integrating Sphere
Integrating spheres collect reflected light from samples over a full hemisphere. The sphere, by nature of its internal diffuse (lambertian) reflection and integration of the energy, is insensitive to directional reflectance features coming from the sample, and therefore, gives a very repeatable “averaged” response to the reflectance of the sample placed in the beam at the sphere port. Sample placement and incidence beam/collection alignment are less critical to the measurement results because the integrating sphere looks at representative averaged energy from all angles at the same time.
Fiber Optic Illuminator
The Fiber Optic Illuminator is a portable, external light source designed for use with ASD instruments and sampling accessories that do not have a built-in light source.

All pistol grip designs include the quick-connect/disconnect fiber optic cable snap-in feature, pistol grip clip assembly for safely and securely affixing the pistol grip to your waist-belt on the back pack, and many offer a built-in bulls-eye level for added precision.
FieldSpec Dual
Stop waiting for “ideal” weather to get your fieldwork done
The FieldSpec Dual collection software system leverages the value and utility of the world’s most trusted line of portable field spectrometers. The software intercalibrates and wirelessly synchronizes two ASD FieldSpec spectroradiometers to collect near simultaneous white reference and sample target radiance spectra. The system virtually eliminates errors associated with time varying atmospheric conditions, one of the biggest challenges to collecting accurate field spectra.
