Measure of particle charge is one of the key parameters used by water plant operators to evaluate the required amount of coagulant. This presentation discusses the use of zeta potential measurement and it's advantages as an absolute and specific indicator of charge. A case study describing the use of this technology by a Colorado water treatment plant as a laboratory and in-process tool for dosing optimization is presented.
