Better batteries

Advance your battery research

Li-ion batteries have become the leading technology to power portable electronic devices, like mobile phones and laptops. They are also the main energy source in electric cars and enable energy storage.

With the growing dependence on energy storage the demand for batteries with larger capacity and energy density is increasing while the need for safe (we all know example of batteries bursting into flames), reliable and ‘green’ batteries is enormous. Many research efforts are put in programs to study battery behavior and to develop further generations of batteries.

X-ray diffraction is one of the most used techniques to investigate, at an atomic level, the behavior of cathode and anode materials during charge and discharge. Our suite of characterization tools helps to analyze battery materials and to study them in operando during charge/discharge cycles and for aging studies.
