Introducing the new SciAps reveNIR
The discontinuation of the ASD Halo left a significant gap in the market - one that existing solutions couldn’t fill. In response, SciAps has developed a new handheld Vis-NIR analyzer designed to meet this critical need.
Compact, powerful, and built with cutting-edge technology, the SciAps reveNIR analyzer ensures you have the precision and portability you need for accurate analysis in the field.

How it works
The SciAps reveNIR analyzes reflectance spectra to detect transitions between different mineral types. These transitions indicate significant changes in mineralogy, helping geologists determine proximity to ore bodies.
With the reveNIR, teams can detect mineral changes in real time and adjust drilling strategies as needed.
Key features
-
Portability
Lightweight and compact, the SciAps reveNIR handheld analyzer is optimized for use in challenging terrains. Under 4.5 lbs with the battery, the reveNIR is 2 lbs lighter and 50% smaller than ASD Halo. From mountainous areas to remote mines accessible only by helicopter or small plane, the reveNIR’s design ensures ease of transport and use.
-
On-site mineral identification
The SciAps reveNIR detects key minerals like Epidote, Calcite, Chlorite, Kaolinite, Halloysite, Montmorillonite, Muscovite, Illite, Smectites, Dickite, Hematite, Goethite, Rectorite, and Rare Earth Oxides, among others. These are essential for vectoring in on ore bodies and guiding drill operations.
-
Versatility
Perfect for reconnaissance, core logging, rock chip analysis, and expanding mapping areas. The SciAps reveNIR allows users to analyze outcrops, measure various positions, and assess the mineralogy of geological formations effortlessly.
-
Rapid decision-making
With real-time mineral spectra analysis, the SciAps reveNIR eliminates the need for lab delays, allowing geologists to adjust their exploration strategies instantly.

Reflectance spectra analysis
The SciAps reveNIR records reflectance spectra to predict mineral composition of samples - a critical tool for understanding geological formations and identifying pathfinder minerals.
- Key spectral range from 350 to 2510 nm
- Mineral spectral library of 250 exploration minerals included
- Capability for user spectral additions/subtractions and converting publicly available USGS SpecLib 7a downloads
- Real-time Spectral Scalars calculations of Al-OH, ISM (Illite Spectral Maturity), Mg-OH, and Fe3t, indicating crystallinity, composition and/or geothermal conditions, as additional vectors to potential mineralization
Applications
-
- Early-stage reconnaissance
-
Analyze surface samples, dig around outcroppings, and assess rock formations in areas without easy access. The reveNIR provides critical insights to determine if further exploration is worthwhile.
- Core logging and drill guidance
-
Identify alteration minerals and pathfinder minerals in drill core samples to direct drilling operations effectively and maximize resource extraction.
- Exploration mapping
-
Expand the understanding of geological formations by measuring multiple positions on outcrops and assessing mineralogical changes across the landscape.
