Premium XRF analyzers

The X-550 sets a new performance standard for handheld XRF. Weighing 1.3 kg with the battery, it’s the smallest, lightest, fastest XRF analyzer on the market. It’s fast on all alloys and as good on aluminums as it is on high temps for the scrap market, and it comes with fully loaded apps for NDT (Residuals, Sulfidic Corrosion, Alloy).

The X-550 uses the industry’s most powerful X-ray tube, operating up to 3x the power in the Beam 2 setting compared to the SciAps X-505 and any other handheld XRF analyzers. The unique geometry and tube power optimize performance for low atomic number measurement applications including sulfidic corrosion (low Si), phosphorus and sulfur, and aluminum alloys, as well as for residuals analysis per API 751 and 5L specifications.

X-555

Premium performance begins with the most advanced handheld XRF technology available, led by a 55 kV X-ray tube for extra-low detection limits on key elements like Ag, Cd, Sn, Sb, and Ba.

Up to three automated beam settings provide optimal performance across the entire periodic table from Mg to U.

All in a rugged instrument with state-of-the-art software and outstanding thermal dissipation.

X-550 or X-505?

What’s the difference between the premium X-550 and X-505?

The answer is simple: Speed on low atomic number elements such as Mg, Al, Si, P and S.

When the X-550 runs at about 3x the X-ray power in the “Beam 2” setting (also known as the low voltage setting) compared to the X-505 or other handheld XRF analyzers, the measured intensities from Mg, Al, Si, P and S (plus K, Ca and Cl in other apps) are 3x higher, producing 3x faster measurements with the X-550.

Value XRF analyzers

Want the accuracy and throughput of the premium models, but in a lower-priced series of analyzers? Then consider the totally re-engineered “value” series, with improved heat dissipation, reduced weight, new user-interface. All internal electronics now use less power and operate at higher temperatures—no drift or shutdown.

  • New, lightweight design at 1.4 kg including batteries
  • Redesigned heat sinking, can now operate continuously up to 43°C ambient temperatures
  • Up-to-date software, user interface, and full recalibration

X-200

The SciAps X-200 offers comparable speed and precision to top-of-the-line competing brands, but at a lower price point, in a smaller, lighter package.

The X-200 silicon drift-detector (SDD) model is competitively priced for every performance requirement. Only slightly heavier than the X-505/550 platform, the X-200 still provides industry-leading speed and precision - it is the value version of the X-505.

  • Specification: 40 kV, Rh anode (alloy) or 50 kV Au anode (Geochem, Soil, others). 20 mm2 standard SDD and DPP. 125k cps, > 90% live.
  • Alloys: Best value where aluminum sorting is daily, but not the major focus. Requires a 2nd beam test of 8 -10 s for Mg at 0.8% in Al base. Requires 5-6 second Beam 2 test time for Al, Si, S and P. Requires 15-20 seconds to measure 0.3-0.5% Mg in grades such 6063 or 356 or 3004.
  • Geochem and Soils: Offers comparable precision, limits of detection and elemental range of other leading XRF brands, but in a lighter weight package, and at a lower price point.

X-50

The completely re-engineered SciAps X-50 XRF analyzer is the highest performing on the market featuring a cost-effective SDD detector.

It offers best-in-class analytical performance and speed for its detector platform, operating at rates 2x or higher than other brands.

The X-50 is our most economical model, offering great basic analysis of transition and heavy metals.

  • Specification: 40 kV, Rh anode (alloy) or Au anode (Geochem, Soil, others). 7 mm2 SDD, silicon drift detector, 15k cps, 50% live.
  • Alloys: Basic sorting of SS, high temps and red metals. Only sort Al alloys by MLCs, 2000s and 7000s.
  • Geochem and soils: Same element suite, but with older PiN diode detector technology. Test times will be much longer to achieve the same precision, but the X-50 platform is lower priced.

X-5

The SciAps X-5 is an excellent choice for conducting basic analysis of transition and heavy metals.

Designed for users who do not require measurements of Mg, Al, Si, S, or P in alloys or other materials.

For these users, we’ve re-engineered this classic technology and equipped it with more features for many applications at a great value.

‍Alloy and scrap: For many NDT/PMI jobs that require verification of low alloy, Cr/Mo steels, stainless and corrosion-resistant alloys, the X-5 often delivers excellent performance. Alloy applications include sorting stainless steels, high temp alloys and red metals.

And more: The X-5 is also available for precious metals, RoHS, soil, mining, car catalysts, industrial lead paint and other user-customizable applications.
